DTEK Tyligulska WPP received a “Green heart leader” award for its contribution to the environmental future of Ukraine

On January 18, 2024, the DTEK Renewables team received another award for the construction of the first stage of DTEK Tyligulska Wind Power Plant amid war.

During the international forum "GREEN TRANSFORMATION: RÉUNION" Lyudmyla Tsyhanok, President of the Professional Association of Environmentalists of Ukraine (PAEU) handed the “Green heart leader” award to Oleg Solovei, Director of DTEK Tyligulska WPP.

In his speech, Oleg Solovei, Director of DTEK Tyligulska WPP thanked the organizers for the high recognition of DTEK Renewables' project to build the I stage of DTEK Tyligulska Wind Power Plant, 114 MW, which became the first wind farm in the world to be constructed during a full-scale war.

"The construction of Tyligulska wind farm was carried out at the time when the enemy was systematically shelling the country's energy infrastructure, which was suffering from blackouts.  We understood the importance of building new distributed renewable energy generation to strengthen the power grid in southern Ukraine, and our Ukrainian team was moving step by step towards the goal of adding critically important megawatts to the grid. We plan to complete the wind farm to the planned capacity of 500 MW, and we are already doing everything necessary for this," said Oleg Solovei.

In turn, Lyudmyla Tsyhanok, CEO of the Office of Sustainable Solutions, President of PAEU, founder of the Ecotransformation in Ukraine project, emphasized the importance of supporting companies in implementing environmental and sustainable projects for the benefit of Ukraine.

"Ukraine is an equal partner in Europe's eco-transformation processes. We have something to show international partners, we are changing our country, albeit slowly. War, corruption, crises - all this creates obstacles, but we are not standing still. PAEU Association, which is active in the international context, has set a goal for 2024 - to popularize the achievements of Ukrainian business and communities, to demonstrate to partners "hard" implemented projects, to open a new Ukraine to Europe and the world," said Lyudmyla Tsyhanok.

The event was organized by the Association of Environmental Professionals of Ukraine. The event was attended by the European Commissioner for the Environment, representatives of the highest diplomatic level - Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of European countries, state and governmental organizations, industry experts and representatives of professional associations, representatives of business, communities, NGOs, etc.

During the event, foreign participants expressed their support for Ukraine and confidence in the need for a green transition and the implementation of large-scale environmental projects and initiatives. Ukrainian representatives demonstrated specific cases on the construction of distributed green generation, energy saving, environmental protection and other important and interesting projects.

The case of DTEK Tyligulsla wind farm, which was built during the period of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, was one of the largest projects presented at the forum.

The "GREEN TRANSFORMATION: RÉUNION" forum, dedicated to the issues of ecology and environmental protection in Ukraine, was attended by more than 400 participants offline and online.
