The Botievo wind farm attracted over 1,000 visitors in the spring and summer. The number of visitors has grown by 40% compared to the same period last year. Since the beginning of the year, the Botievo wind farm held 35 site tours for those who want to find out more about the wind farms.
Wind Power, a company running the Botievo wind farm, launched the 'Industrial Tourism' programme almost two years ago. The programme offers free wind farm tours for those interested in green energy generation. Site tours are offered every Friday at 10:00 am. They typically last an hour and a half and include a visit to the site control centre and a car trip to the turbines to have a closer look at the turbine towers and nacelles. You can register for a tour at the Botievo Wind Farm website.
Traditionally, most visitors come to us from the neighbouring villages of Strohanivka and Prymorskyi Posad where they have a rest at the Azov seaside. This explains why they mostly come in the summer months. Besides, the wind farm caries out monthly educational tours for pupils and students.
"By organising these tours we create a more attractive environment for tourists and contribute to social development of the region", says Gennadii Zhukov, Manager of the Botievo wind farm. "We try to arrange both informative and interesting tours for our visitors. This year we have managed to organise a couple of thematic events. On Global Wind Day, we were flying kites with the pupils from Kherson city, whereas on the Independence Day we were performing a festive flash mob involving 80 visitors to the farm site."
Over one and a half years of the programme's existence, the Botievo wind farm has attracted over 2,000 visitors from all regions of Ukraine, as well as near and far abroad countries.
