A large number of electrical equipment, including cable lines, at energy facilities requires constant monitoring and maintenance. For this purpose, DTEK Renewables has purchased a mobile electrical laboratory, a special vehicle equipped with technological measuring equipment.
The electrical laboratory will provide services to DTEK Renewables' solar and wind power plants and can also help external customers both on a commercial basis and during urgent restoration of power grids after enemy damage.
"At the early stages, the ETL can be used to detect places of insulation failure and eliminate the defects with minimal losses in power generation by the power plant. It's another matter when the cable has already been damaged. In this case, the laboratory arrives to detect the place of damage and provide the emergency repair. If the damage cannot be visually detected, the laboratory equipment and devices allow to "scan" the route of the cable underground and find the exact place where we need to dig up the area and repair the cable," says Yaroslav Khrabust, Director of WIND TECH, a DTEK Renewables company.
The laboratory is set up with Ukrainian-made equipment for both cable line inspection and fault location, as well as for high-voltage testing with a voltage of up to 100 kV. To test the cable lines of solar and wind power plants, the laboratory has a modern high-tech world-brand equipment.
"We have expertise in working with SF6 equipment, power transformers, and now we can perform high-voltage tests with the help of an electrical laboratory again, and we are ready to share our experience and provide services. Renewables companies, thermal power generation companies, distribution and backbone grids, as well as other energy companies can be among our customers. Wind Tech LLC can help to put equipment into operation, quickly and professionally carry out diagnostics or repairs. We are interested in the energy system of Ukraine being reliable and the equipment working stably. Therefore, we develop our competencies and provide high-quality service," adds Yaroslav Khrabust.
