Less sun and wind: in 2021, DTEK Renewables reduced the supply of "green" electricity by 12%

In 2021, compared to 2020, DTEK Renewables reduced the supply of green electricity by 11.8%, to 2.1 billion kWh. Throughout the year, all of the company's power plants operated in normal mode and ensured maximum generation in existing weather conditions.

In particular, the energy output at the wind farms - Botievska, Primorska (I and II stages), Orlivska - amounted to 1.478 billion kWh. In August, the wind farms produced the least electricity because of the least windy weather. The largest amount of generation was recorded last December due to high winds.

In turn, over the past year, the solar farms - Trifonovska, Nikopolska, and Pokrovska - produced 0.637 billion kWh of electricity. The maximum generation at these farms was in July, while the least number of sunny days was in December 2021, which affected the amounts of the company's solar farms supply.

In 2021, the share of DTEK Renewables in the electricity supply amounted to 16.8%, which is 5.8 percentage points less than the previous year.

“The future of the world, and, in particular, of Ukraine is with renewable energy. Its share in the country's energy balance is constantly growing, and I am glad that DTEK Renewables is making a significant contribution to the decarbonization of the country's economy,” said Maris Kunickis, CEO of DTEK Renewables. - This year, we expect that the weather will allow us to produce more environmentally friendly energy at existing plants. Moreover, at the end of 2022, we plan to produce the first kilowatts of the DTEK Tiligul wind farm, which is currently in the active phase of construction. So, we will definitely make our contribution to the decarbonization of Ukraine even more significant.”
