DTEK Renewables has been named Onshore Developer of the Year at the global Wind Investment Awards 2024 for going ‘above and beyond’ in its construction of the Tyligulska Wind Power Plant (WPP) near the frontline in Ukraine.

DTEK Renewables completed the first stage of Tyligulska WPP last year, despite DTEK engineers living and working under the constant risk of attack by russian forces.

In awarding the prize at a gala ceremony in London on Thursday night, the independent panel of judges described DTEK as: “A developer and a team that go beyond what can ever reasonably be expected. The impact of their work is impossible to measure. Truly inspiring!”

Despite war, DTEK is now preparing to launch stage two at Tyligulska: adding a further 64 Vestas turbines to the 19 already built. The completed windfarm will have a capacity of 500 MW and provide clean and secure energy to 900 000 households. It will also provide a vital additional source of resilient generation to an energy system that has been battered by repeated russian missile attacks in recent months.

Oleksandr Selyshchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables said: “This reward is an acknowledgement of the brave men and women who built Tyligulska and every energy worker in Ukraine, who fight to deliver light while our enemy brings only darkness. We are truly delighted to receive this award and thank Tamarindo and the judges for this great honour.”
