“This study covers multiple areas of green recovery at once. It shows what it is, what it should be like, how we should move and what challenges we should overcome,” said Stanislav Shum, CEO of Top Lead, during presentation of the study on 7th of July.
In addition, Yevhen Lapchenko, head of Regulatory Department of DTEK Renewables, emphasised the value of such study for the green recovery.
“DTEK Renewbles considers the green recovery as critical for Ukraine. After all, decentralised generation, in particular, wind farms, as well as energy storage systems, are capable to strengthen the country’s energy security. Due to their location in the large territory, they make the energy system more resilient to the shelling. And it is precisely such studies that help to demonstrate the successes of the industry and the challenges that need to be overcome together to ensure the sustainable development of the Ukraine’s energy sector”, said Mr. Lapchenko.
He also mapped regulatory challenges and opportunities for the renewable energy sector, both mentioned in the study and those to be implemented or improved for Ukraine’s energy recovery to be fast and continuous.
In particular, Mr. Lapchenko said that for the state to achieve its goals of energy recovery and increase the share of renewable power in the energy system, it is necessary to overcome the debt crisis, improve the attractiveness of the green auction mechanism for new investors, continue to move towards the launch of the Commercial Price Guarantee Fund, the market of guarantees of origin, and ensure the speedy commercial coupling of Ukrainian and EU energy markets.
