The city of Mykolayiv, which since the early April has a big problem with the supply of drinking water to
citizens due to the damage of the water supply network, has already received an innovative mobile
water purification system provided as humanitarian aid by AFTA Group.
This mobile water purification system consists of an electric tricycle, which is equipped with filtering
equipment and a tank for transporting water with a capacity of 500 liters. It is powered by batteries and
additional two solar panels located on both sides of the tricycle.
The mobile complex can filter polluted water and provide local residents who left without water supply
with quality drinking water. Thus, Mykolayiv residents will be able to fill bottles and other containers
with drinking water for the further use.
The supply of the water purification equipment as humanitarian aid from the AFTA Group and thanks to
the UN Global Compact in Ukraine has become another example of international support provided by
private companies in cooperation with Ukrainian businesses, including the DTEK Group.
Reminding that until April 12 the residents of Mykolayiv have been supplied with water from the
Dnieper River, which complied with the state sanitary rules and norms. Due to the damage of the
pipeline by the Russian troops, Mykolayiv remained without centralized water supply.
Finally, water supply has been restored in May due to the supply from the Bug estuary. However, the
outdated water treatment system in Mykolayiv could not make it usable, so citizens were allowed to use
this water only for the household needs.
