The "Energy Dialogue 2022" conference took place in Moldova on November 3, organized by the European Business Association of Moldova, as well as the EU representative office. DTEK Renewables informed the conference participants and listeners about the current situation and the challenges of the green energy sector.
"The development of renewables in Ukraine has been happening during the last 12 years. About 12 billion dollars were invested in the industry. By the end of 2021, the share of renewables in the installed capacity reached 14%. This is the largest private sector of the economy, which was created from scratch with the help of private and mostly foreign investments," said Ihor Retivov, manager of regulatory activities.
During his speech, he noted that Ukraine has already overcome certain problems related to the development of the renewables industry, which has been discussed at the conference panel. That is why "green energy" currently takes an equal position among other types of electricity generation in Ukraine.
Ihor Retivov emphasized that in the conditions of the war, the renewable energy sector is going through difficult times financially and the problem of the occupation of the territories where significant amounts of the capacities of solar and wind power plants of Ukraine are located.
However, he noted that the state has chosen "green energy" among the priorities for recovery, so there is every chance to resolve crisis issues and breathe new life into the country's renewables sector.
"Ukraine declares its support for the renewables industry. We see that investors are ready to invest in new renewable energy projects when it is clearly understood that the state will ensure the stability of the legislative field for conducting green energy business," added Ihor Retivov.
Regarding the renewables industry in Moldova, he emphasized the importance of the existence of a strategy and market mechanisms that would regulate the development of green energy in accordance with the country's needs, and the full potential of renewables would be realized so that the country could provide itself with such energy.
The representatives of the National Energy Regulatory Agency, Moldelectrica, Aliv Capital Romania, Danish Renewables, East Energy were among the panel speakers.
