In honor of World Wetlands Day, celebrated on February 2, our partners, the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park, invited DTEK Renewables to participate in a set of themed events in Mykolayiv.

Yesterday, an all-Ukrainian teleconference was held with the representatives of the country's reserved areas and parks related to wetlands, including the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park, Askania-Nova, and others. Eco-activists, representatives of local schools, a total of about 60 people joined - those who care about biodiversity conservation in Ukraine's reserved areas. The teleconference was broadcast and the video will be available soon.

At the invitation of the organizers, during the teleconference, a representative of DTEK Renewables spoke about the "Bird Islands" eco-project implemented in the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park and its first results. Last year, DTEK Renewables built 1,500 m2 of artificial nesting islands for local birds migrating for breeding, including rare species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and the European Red List, and received the ECOtransformation award for the project.

DTEK Renewables took part in the event because we are a socially responsible company, that implements ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards in Ukraine not only by generating clean electricity but also by supporting the environmental situation in the regions of our work. We will continue this line of activity in this direction everywhere we work, and separately in the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park.

Also, a themed quiz for children in schools near the Tiligulsky Regional Landscape Park was planned for February 2, printed materials and souvenirs for children were prepared as well. The young winners of the quiz would have visited the Mykolaiv Zoo on February 5. Unfortunately, these plans had to be postponed due to the complex epidemiological situation in the region. However, the organizers promised that the quiz and the trip will take place as soon as the quarantine restrictions are eased. In turn, we will help ensure that both events are held on a positive note and at a high level.
