As part of the project, DTEK Renewables will finance 63 community initiatives worth UAH 4.9 mln. Among the winners there are projects related to the social sphere, environment, energy consumption, healthcare, sports, and urban improvement.

This year DTEK Renewables joined the competition "Your Hometown Begins with You", which DTEK has been organising since 2013. Certificates have already been granted to 63 initiative groups in 4 regions of operation: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv. By the way, active residents of the Mykolaiv region took part in the competition for the first time, after DTEK Renewables had entered this region at the beginning of the year with the project on construction of the Tiligulska wind power plant. The projects initiated by local volunteers will soon receive funding, and their implementation is to be completed by late November.

We will continue to support them in their efforts to improve the lives of their communities,” commented DTEK’ Renewables CEO Maris Kunickis on the results of the competition.

In 2021, the project "Your Hometown Begins with You" focuses on creation of a barrier-free and inclusive environment in a broad sense, which is closely in line with the Without Barriers initiative launched by the First Lady of Ukraine. For example, in Prymorsk they plan to purchase equipment and organise computer literacy courses for elderly people, using grant funds; in Koblevo - to equip a sports and playground with facilities for children with special needs.

The project "Your Hometown Begins with You" is based on ESG principles and meets the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. It draws the community's attention to solving problems that exist in its territory: it helps to create an efficient and modern infrastructure, nurtures innovation in education and healthcare, promotes energy efficiency and the principles of barrier-free and inclusive environment.  

"Your Hometown Begins with You" is an important social project for DTEK and a significant contribution to the transformation of the Ukrainian society. The company encourages communities to organise public spaces, implement cultural and social initiatives, create a comfortable living environment.
