DTEK Renewables has financed the installation of three battery energy storage systems (BESS) at municipal facilities in the Hlobyne community in Ukraine’s Poltava region. The project was implemented as part of the company’s social partnership with the community, where the country’s largest wind farm — the 650 MW DTEK Poltava Wind Power Plant — is planned to be built.
The BESS units are equipped with high-efficiency hybrid inverters and have battery capacities of 30, 40, and 102 kWh. Their operation will provide backup power supply to critical community facilities during planned or emergency power outages.
“DTEK Renewables builds partnerships with communities based on the real needs of local residents. That is why we supported the initiative to install backup power systems. These systems will help the community become more resilient and better prepared for today’s challenges. At the same time, our strategic goal is to build the DTEK Poltava Wind Power Plant in partnership with the Hlobyne community. Without exaggeration, this is a project of national importance, as it will generate electricity for the region and neighbouring energy-deficient areas,” said Oleg Solovey, Deputy CEO of DTEK Renewables.
The total cost of the project amounted to UAH 3.3 million. The project was implemented on a co-financing basis: 90% was financed by DTEK Renewables, while the remaining 10% was covered by the local budget. The contractor for the project was YASNO, whose specialists supplied the equipment and carried out all installation and commissioning works.
“The equipment was installed at three key locations that will provide backup power to seven public infrastructure facilities. In particular, one of the systems was installed on the premises of Hlobyne Lyceum No. 5. This location was selected because it enables backup power supply for Kindergarten No. 4 and a water well located on its territory. Overall, these systems benefit the entire community. We thank DTEK Renewables for the cooperation within the framework of the Poltava Wind Power Plant project, which is important both for the region and for the country,” added Hlobyne Mayor Stanislav Dzhus.
The company continues to implement social initiatives in the community even before the start of construction of the DTEK Poltava Wind Power Plant, supporting projects that are important for local residents and critical infrastructure.
Earlier, DTEK Renewables specialists also developed and transferred project documentation to the Hlobyne City Council for the construction of a 2 MW solar power plant.
