DTEK Renewables continues to implement its sustainable development goals and has started issuing carbon credits that businesses can purchase to reduce their carbon footprint in the production of products.
‘We have recently took the first guarantees of origin that can be purchased by Ukrainian businesses. Now, by issuing carbon credits, we are entering the international level and calling on foreign businesses to support the renewal of Ukraine's energy sector. After all, the proceeds from the sale of carbon credits go directly to the development of renewable energy capacities,' said DTEK Renewables CEO Oleksandr Selyshchev.
One of the company's enterprises has received certification to issue carbon credits from the International Carbon Registry (Iceland). According to the registry's methodology, 1 carbon credit in Ukraine corresponds to a reduction in emissions by 1 tonne of CO2 through the production of 1.56 MWh of renewable energy.
Thus, the ‘clean’ electricity generated by the company over 2019-2023 allowed us to avoid CO2 emissions totalling 880 thousand tonnes.
DTEK Renewables is an active supporter of the green transition. The company uses all available European and global mechanisms to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint.
