After the Russians blew up the Kakhovka HPP, dozens of villages in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region were left without access to water. For example, in the villages of Chkalovo and Pivdenne of the Pershotravneve village territorial community, the wells available to households have a low water debit.
“The head of the community asked DTEK Renewables for help. Of course, as a long-standing partner of Pershotravneve community, we organized the order and delivery of a large amount of drinking water for the residents of Chkalovo, Pivdenne and Pershotravneve. Within two weeks, 21,000 bottles of water were delivered to the community and been distributed to people," says Volodymyr Shulyatsky, Director of DTEK Nikopol Solar Power Plant.
"The problem of centralized water supply in the community has not been resolved yet. Businesses and humanitarian funds help us to provide people with drinking water, and the State Emergency Service delivers technical water. Thanks to the supply from DTEK Renewables, 8,773 residents of the community received drinking water. We are very grateful to the company and all those who help us for their assistance in supplying water, they provide a great support to our people," said Tamara Lytovchenko, head of Pershotravneve village territorial community of Nikopol district.
A few weeks earlier, DTEK Renewables provided drinking water to the neighboring Pokrovske village community by supplying 180 tons of drinking water for people, and 40 tanks of 2 and 5 cubic meters for water delivery and storage.
Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, DTEK Renewables has been providing systematic humanitarian assistance to communities where the company's enterprises are located or where Ukrainians internally displaced from the temporarily occupied territories live in large numbers.
Since 2014, the Foundation has provided 13 million food packages to Ukrainians. Over this time, the help from Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, SCM businesses and Shakhtar football club has reached more than 18 million people.
