Deficit reduced: DTEK Renewables solar power plants doubled electricity generation in February

DTEK Renewables doubled the electricity generation at solar farms from 18.5 million kWh in January to 35.2 million kWh in February this year. This is equivalent to the monthly electricity consumption of more than 200,000 households.

The significant increase in electricity production of the company’s solar power plants last month is related to the increasing of daylight hours length and their number, as well as ensuring the efficient operation of the power generating equipment of the stations by DTEK Renewables specialists.

Together, it contributed to the fact that there was almost no shortage of generating capacity in the power system most days of February compared to January, and this allowed the distribution system operators to minimize or completely avoid power outages for the population.

Oleksandr Selyshchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables, said: "The total capacity of our solar power plants is 450 MW and they provide the country with its own clean energy. We are sure that the green energy of Ukraine helped to solve the problem of electricity deficit in February. We expect that the more active operation of solar and wind power generation in spring will reduce the load on thermal and nuclear power plants that need to be repaired, as well as release the potential for the resumption of electricity export by the state."
