Recently, the football ground in Berezanka village hosted a children's football tournament as part of the “Come On, Let’s Play!” project. Children's teams from the Berezanka and Kobleve territorial communities played.
On the football pitch, 67 boys and girls aged 7 to 12 played football and participated in relay races. Three football matches for different age groups took place during the tournament. Among the teams of the younger age group of 7-9 years old, the teams from Berezanka won, while the older boys and girls who won were from the Kobleve territorial community. In general, the event was bright and full of joyful emotions. At the end of the tournament, all participants received medals.
Oleg Solovei, Director of DTEK Tyligulska WPP: "In addition to providing humanitarian aid to the communities of Mykolaiv region, DTEK Renewables continues to support children's sports. We understand the importance of physical activity for children, which is why we have resumed the "Come On, Let’s Play!" project in Berezanka and Kobleve since January this year. I hope that such small events as a football tournament will allow young athletes to enjoy the joyful moments of childhood despite the war."
The grounds in Berezanka and Kobleve were opened in 2021, almost six months before the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. In February 2022, the project was suspended. In February 2023, Shakhtar Social and DTEK Renewables resumed the project in Kobleve and Berezanka.
Denys Kondratiuk, coach of the children's team "Come On, Let’s Play!" in Kobleve village: "We held a tournament where the main task of the children was to have fun and gain experience. I think we fulfilled this task 100%. Nowadays, in times of war, it is important to provide children with conditions for distraction, positive emotions and physical development. Regardless of the results of the game, it is always an important experience, new acquaintances and children's first small steps into a great future. I am pleased that I have the opportunity to help and teach children, they are a force. The tournament was like a first step for many of them, so it's great! The older age group has more understanding and skill, so they gained experience and won, while the younger ones are just starting out, and I think they got a good result. In general, there were a lot of positive emotions, a good start and a great tournament."
The coach of the Berezanka team "Come On, Let’s Play!" Ihor Chapchai said: "Any events that distract children and give them positive emotions should be held. For any child, a small medal is a memory. Photos with friends, socializing are good and positive for our little football players."
Football tournaments within the "Come On, Let’s Play!" project take place twice a year - in spring and autumn.
The "Come On, Let’s Play!" project is the largest social project aimed at developing children's amateur football in Ukraine and has been implemented by Shakhtar Social with the support of its general partner DTEK for 5 years.
DTEK helps the regions where the company's enterprises are located by implementing many social projects and humanitarian aid. And “Come On, Let’s Play!” is one of the most important projects. This is a unique national project that allows children to play football for free under the supervision of experienced coaches. For its part, DTEK, together with Shakhtar Social, organizes the training process and purchases sports equipment for children in the regions.
Today, the project is being implemented in 22 localities of Ukraine, where about 1400 children are involved.
