DTEK Renewables has sold its own guarantees of origin (GOs) for electricity in Ukraine for the first time. The development of this market and the increase in consumption of green energy are important steps towards decarbonising the economy.
"DTEK Renewables is focused and consistent in helping to decarbonise the Ukrainian economy. We are building new capacity with foreign investment and issuing guarantees of origin for sale on the domestic market and carbon credits for sale on international platforms. The state is currently in the early stages of creating a full-fledged market for guarantees of origin, and its development is an important prerequisite for increasing the use of clean energy in the economy," said Oleksandr Selyshchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables.
The purchase of GOs by companies and enterprises is an official evidence that they use electricity from renewable sources in their activities and demonstrates the environmental value of their products. Any individual or legal entity can purchase them in Ukraine on special electronic platforms.
Buyers of GOs gain additional competitive and reputational advantages for their goods or services, while also contributing to the further development of renewable energy capacity in Ukraine.
