DTEK Renewables is in the process of obtaining all the necessary permits and documents to prepare for the construction of DTEK Poltavska Wind Power Plant. The company has received technical specifications to connect 650 MW of capacity to the Ukrainian energy grid.

The availability of technical specifications is an important prerequisite for the design of the future wind farm's power collection substation. Construction is due to start in 2025.

"Wind energy has many strategic advantages - speed of construction, dispersed turbines and the highest generation from early autumn to late spring. That is why it should become the basis for the renewal of Ukraine's energy potential in the coming years. Accordingly, we continue to comprehensively prepare for the implementation of the 650 MW Poltavska WPP project," said Oleg Solovei, Deputy CEO of DTEK Renewables.

A second meteorological mast was recently installed in the Hlobynska community to conduct a wind monitoring campaign. Together with the first one, they are the largest in Ukraine and have a height of 160 metres. The use of two meteorological masts is due to the need for the most accurate assessment of key parameters such as wind flow directions and wind strength, as the wind farm will be located over a very large area.

The team is also conducting ornithological surveys. The specialists have already provided the company with an ornithological report for the six-month monitoring period of spring migration, which confirms the correctness of the previous wind turbine layout and that they do not affect bird migration. Next, ornithologists will carry out autumn migration studies near the prospective wind power plant.
